Landeszentrale für politische Bildung eröffnet Büro in Chemnitz
The Landeszentrale für politische Bildung, the state agency for political education, has opened a project office in Chemnitz, the future European Capital of Culture in 2025. This marks the first time in its 33-year history that the agency has established a second location outside of Dresden. The goal of this expansion is to strengthen the agency’s presence and promote international networking and dialogue.
Focusing on Europe
“Inhaltlich legt das Projektbüro Chemnitz seinen Schwerpunkt auf Mittel- und Osteuropa.” – Roland Löffler, Director of Landeszentrale für politische Bildung
The Chemnitz project office will focus on political, economic, and cultural developments in neighboring countries of Central and Eastern Europe, as well as European security and peace policy. It aims to invite prominent voices to Chemnitz in order to gain a better understanding of the perspectives of other countries. The project office will serve as a venue for various events and educational programs, including discussions, lectures, educational trips, and conferences. Christine von Brühl has been appointed as the head of the project office.
Boosting Enthusiasm for Europe
“Das mit dem Gesamtkonzept Europabildung und mit dem neuen Projektbüro verbundene Ziel sei, ‘die Begeisterung für Europa zu entfachen’.” – Katja Meier, Minister for European Affairs
The opening of the project office in Chemnitz is part of a broader initiative to foster enthusiasm for Europe. This initiative, which includes the concept of European education, aims to use the project office as a means to ignite a passion for Europe. As the future European Capital of Culture, Chemnitz will play a significant role in promoting this goal.
